It really is a beautiful shape ...much more so than merely saying "sloped shouldered dred," the body looks so exquisitely proportioned.  Just gorgeous!  Thanks for sharing pics :)

I have to agree 100%!! I don't have a GP model, YET, but my Bourgeois is a so-called "slope-shoulder" dread.  When I look at it, I don't see slopes!  I don't know who came up with that term, but it's not fitting for the body shape.

I think that many people call it a slope-shoulder dread due to a need to place it in some sort of category and the fact that it seems to have replaced Taylor's square shoulder dread with a few exceptions. To me, its shape actually resembles Lowden's old F series guitars. As an owner of a couple of them in the past, I would venture to say that Taylor has created a real winner if the GP sounds like the F, and has a much more user-friendly neck....
My Taylor Grand Auditoriums:

1997 Cujo14 - old growth cedar/black walnut
2014 K24e - master grade koa
2018 Custom GA - bear claw sitka spruce/mahogany
2019 614 - torrified sitka spruce/flamed maple
2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

I've never had even the most remote interest in dreadnoughts, but I will admit to a very minor curiosity about the new GPs.  So yesterday I popped in to Dusty Strings and played a 717.  It was mind-blowing.  Loud ... wonderfully balanced ... with clear note separation.  Those last two are qualities I've never experienced on dreads before.

The fact that it left such a positive impression on me wasn't the only surprise:  I also played a 317 which, for the money, was just spectacular.  I've always found 300 series guitars to be a bit muddy, but this was anything but.

Well done, Andy!

To my eye, both of them look like GPs!

Great eye!  I hadn't noticed, but I see his doesn't have the headstock or fretboard inlays of the GPs.  One of the older Taylor dreads I see - looks to be either a 110-210-310-or 410 - just by looking at the dot in lays.

I purchased a 717 Builder's Edition with Wild Honey Burst and it just arrived today.  I played it for about 5 minutes 6 hours ago.  First impression: I am not wild about the textured Western floral print of the case.  But I am wild about the satin finish, the chamfered body edges, the volume and sustain.

Family responsibilities are done for the day...time to play.

I can't get the 317 to stay tuned. Also, some days I am feeling the guitar to sound a bit dry, really having to dig in, others very melodic.... Not sure what is happening..

I wonder if its new strings are getting accustomed to their new home with different temperatures and humidity than previously. Is it going out tune between playings or while you're playing it???
