Engelmann is great stuff ...and especially with RW. Some folks like the glassiness of spruce w/rw, but I find (with Taylors, that is) the spruce/rw combo lacks mids and enphasizes the bottom and top; like big bass along with too much "zing" on the highs. Personally, I've found the engelmann (like cedar) adds warmth with accentuated mids, and also calms down the brightness, lending a crisp, defined notes without the zing. So suffice it to say, I prefer the tone of engel with rw (not to mention the BTO of a forumite here with a cedar/rw 914 has got to sound nothing short of gorgeous!!). My RT Style2 --a GC sized body-- is maple with engelmann ...you'd never think it but the bass is truly big and deep, yet the mids are clear, warm, and focused, and all the notes, not just the highs, have a beautiful crisp "finish" that creates lovely definition and individual-note distinction. I know this is a different build altogether, but I cannot help bt think the engelmann contributes much to the timbre of this guitar. Huge congrats!
