for some reason this iXX.tinypic.com takes forever to upload a pic out here -
the links within the 'img' boxes is right, but i'm wondering if clicking
on the links themselves & opening each in a new window is any faster ???

I have been having great luck with photobucket.
watermarking pics might  be a good idea too, as i've seen a pic of
one of my guitars used on an auction site before, as a 'stock' photo  ::)

the seller had a legimate Taylor guitar for sale ... it just wasn't mine ;)

Wow, that is beautiful, tight-grained wood - I'm not accustomed to seeing such consistent spacing on a top.  As you note, cedar tops produce a wonderful, warm tone (in my experience they also darken with age to a very rich color).  I have a similar guitar and find the size almost ideal 'though it took some acclimatization.  Congratulations !

Thanks for the generous comments, friends.  Yes, I think the 800 series is just sweet, sweet in appearance, maybe the sweet spot of the whole Taylor line in the looks department.  To each his/her own, though.

Yes, it's a Canon XSi and it does a great job. I have to say again that I feel very fortunate with the appearance of wood I got on the top of this guitar. It has just a little of that mineral look in it that sinker is so justifiably well known for.  This is going to look really nice as it darkens up, I hope.

The rosewood is kinda dark, not abnormally so, but has great grain.  The flash highlighted the grain although it's darker than the picture;  however it sets off the maple binding just fantastically.

I should mention I was positively surprised by the sustain I'm getting, acoustically.  Somehow I had assumed there wouldn't be much with the somewhat smaller body.  It's there, though.  Very nice.

Sorry about TinyPic.  I don't "belong" to any of the photo hosting sites, because I can't figure out if they're going to spread my email address all over the universe or not. (Any comments on that welcome)

Maybe looks don't have anything to do with sound, but I think we all need to love the looks of our instruments.

This is my second Taylor....I traded my T5, but my first Taylor acoustic.  I'm now in the club!  Hey, I'm NOT infected with GAS, really, I'm not, I'm not!

imagur might  be a little easier/straight-forward to use &
either will allow a bigger pic to be posted than webshots -

the top, the bracing & the body dimensions work well together for a very responsive tone overall, imho -
i'm glad that you've got 'the total package' (tone, playability, aesthetics, build quality & craftsmanship) ... very cool  8)

i remember a 712ce that i would have picked over a 914ce in a heartbeat & in another instance, as there was/is little
difference in price between a 714ce & 814ce, i remember my local dealer ordering a cedar top 814ce (it was niiiice :) )

photobucket offers a 'private album' option & opening a 'disposable' e-mail account to register,
if spam may be of concern, might take most of the worry out of it ... just a thought

perhaps imagur is not such a good option after all - sorry for the poor recommendation  :-[

pics may not always going to be there & they have to be viewed periodically, as the images
are 'anonymous' & there doesn't seem to be any 'albums', it could be the 'luck of the draw'

if one were to upload unauthorized copyrighted material, they could  ban the use of their hosting here

thanks again for sharing your NGD & the pics, Navy :)

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. I've heard that before! Even said it myself a time or two!

Congrats on your new Taylor! Definitely an exquisite cedar top not to mention all the other parts. Beautiful music maker!

More pictures!......this time I loaded some to imagur............I think their rule is that if a picture isn't viewed after 6 mos., they dump it.

Note the curly maple body binding front, back, all along the fretboard, even all around the peghead; also you can see more of the little color variations in the cedar.  On the player side of the fretboard/neck (right handed) are little tasteful black reference dots which are not in these pictures, but I like them.  Mother of pearl (or is it Abalone?) inlays in the bridge pins.....standard.

Wow!  That's a beautiful cedar top.  Some of them can be boring, but no that one.

A beautiful guitar overall.  Congrats.

Go Navy!!! Congrats on your new Taylor!

There are two things that really stick out to me about your guitar:

1. The Maple binding is just GORGEOUS!  Taylor's attention to detail has always impressed me.

2. The grain on your EI rosewood is stunning!  It's just a beautiful cut of rosewood!

I hope your new Taylor brings you years of joy!

A big thank you to everyone here on UTGF for all the affirmations, congratulations, and positive comments on my new 812! I think we're all addicted to some extent and we all love to see pictures of members' instruments,  so it's my pleasure to be able to share pictures of this gorgeous guitar for everyone to enjoy.

And, again, thanks to L.A. Guitars for doing a great job for me.  :)

Nice guitar Go Navy!  I would really like to hear a X12 in cedar, I don't believe I ever have.  Taylor really does a nice job with the binding, that curly maple is great looking.  I also think the fret markers are nice, they don't list them as MOP but as Pearl 800 series, so I'm not sure what they are made of.

Enjoy it!
