Nice guitar Go Navy!  I would really like to hear a X12 in cedar, I don't believe I ever have.  Taylor really does a nice job with the binding, that curly maple is great looking.  I also think the fret markers are nice, they don't list them as MOP but as Pearl 800 series, so I'm not sure what they are made of.

Enjoy it!

Mgap.......No surprise I agree with your comments on the fret markers.  I really like their design.....looks elegant to me, and should stand the test of time.  I don't know what they're made of.

You should definitely play a cedar top whenever you get a chance.  Just pay close attention to the tops when you're in any guitar store.  They can look similar to spruce and you might not especially notice one hanging on the wall with other guitars, but they usually are just a little darker in color than spruce even when brand new.
