My New 812ce Is Done--Even MORE PICTURES!
« on: March 24, 2012, 12:14:35 PM »
The wait is over. My new 812ce is on the way according to L.A. Guitar Sales.  Should be here (N. Taxifornia/Bay Area) late Tuesday.  It's a special order with a western red cedar top, natural finish.  This my first Taylor and my first quality acoustic.  I currently own no acoustics, except this new Taylor on the way.

Ted estimated 8 weeks and he was right on the money with that time frame.  I'll post again in this thread when I get it and take some decent pictures to share.

That is fantastic! So glad to hear things are on schedule. I really enjoyed dealing with Ted for my BTO. Good folks, him and Helene.

Can't wait to see it. Oh man, an 800 series GC with cedar sounds soooo good. Excited for you.

Rest assured that pictures will be provided ASAP.  I have received major advice and encouragement here on this choice and I'm just feeling great about, it along with all the anticipation.

The new 812ce arrived today on schedule, via L.A. Guitars.  Special order cedar top, everything else standard.  I really, really like the size;  the cedar top gives a warm sound to it; action feels a little softer than the larger models;  plenty of low end, less acoustic volume on the high notes. It responds well to a pick, which is my normal playing approach. I haven't played it through an amp yet.  The acoustic tone is wonderful. Fit and finish are perfect as far as I can tell. The neck feels great. I made the right choice for me.

Note the standard maple binding, and maple on the base of the neck heel.  Mother of pearl inlays on the pegheads.....all standard.  People at Taylor have really good aesthetic taste.

The wood specimens chosen for this guitar, esp. the cedar top, are beautiful.  The top has some interesting detail color in the grain.  It can only get better with time.  (P.S. it's a PAIN to post pictures on this forum! If I get over that, I'll post a few more!  )

Oooooh that is nice.  the 800 series has such a nice style to it, with the maple binding I think it is a beautiful guitar.  My 714 has cedar top and I enjoy the sound very much.  Good choice and Go Navy!

hi Navy,
congrats on the 812ce :)

thanks for sharing the pics :D
the grain of the top is very nice, imho & if the
variegation was any darker, i'd almost think it was 'sinker' cedar :o

for some reason this iXX.tinypic.com takes forever to upload a pic out here -
the links within the 'img' boxes is right, but i'm wondering if clicking
on the links themselves & opening each in a new window is any faster ???

nope :(
unless it's an issue with my ISP (it's pretty quick), tinypic is s-s-s-l-l-l-l-o-o-o :-\

nice grain on the back too :D

sounds like a great guitar ...
enjoy 'er :)
