I have to agree - I do not like having to wait so long for graphics to load and scroll thru lots of pages to get the info I need.  When the main page loads, the menu is at the bottom and since it is a drop-down it drops down off my screen and I have to scroll to see things and ........

Did I say I really dislike the way web pages have to have so many graphics and other items that really take too long to load - just give me a list - for instance the Road Show schedule - the other day I had to click thru several pages to even get to the Events then instead of just listing the items like they used to there is only about 5 listed per page, each page takes time to load, then I had to scroll about 1/2 way down where the info started.  It would be nice to have a list of maybe I could click on a geographical area and get the shows that way.

Give it time.  I know that some here like it...some feel neutral, and some dislike it.  The fact that Taylor (via Shannon) has been asking for opinions on their new website from our little community really says something about what kind of company they are.

Let's keep in mind that their website...really is their website.   ;D

I really feel like I have given it time, and I understand that it is their web-site.  I don't think anything I have said (or has been responded to here) is mean-spirited, it just is what it is.

You see I have another post asking about the fret-board in-lay.....I'm sure that information, along with a lot more technical information, was available on the old site.  Now, I can find the materials for inlay for the bridge pins but not the the fret-board?  I don't get that.

There's a link that appears to get you to more information on the appointments.....then you can see "fretboard inly" and "rosette".....but then when you click on them.....nothing......just the text.

Ebick you're fine man.    I didn't reply to your post because I thought it was mean spirited.   :)

.........

I'm not trying to bash the website in any way but I too feel the same as Ebick - it's been a couple of months that the site has been up.

I am in the market for a 12-string and I have been to the website to get some info - there are three web pages with a total of 25 different pictures that I have to click thru (and wait for the graphics to load) to see the specs and find more info, I gave up.

I have posted my concerns on Shannon's thread and I know he and the crew at Taylor are working very hard but in this day and age the consumers attention span is short and in demand....and I'm a Taylor fan what if I'm new to Taylor and have no clue what I'm looking for - I think I would give up.

perhaps some specs could be combined/added
http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/acoustic/814ce

rather than
Tuners - Taylor Gold & Buttons - Gold
Fretboard inlays - 800 Series
Rosette size - Single Ring
Brand of Strings - Elixir Light

Tuners - Taylor Gold with Gold buttons
Fretboard inlays - 800 Series, Pearl
Rosette type - Single Ring, Abalone
Strings - Elixir NanoWeb 80/20 Light ( .012 - .053)

there are so many specs that show 'None', to me, it looks like
how one would make their selections when ordering a BTO -
Peghead & bridge inlays (if any) will match the series (fretboard inlay), body binding
(if any), fretboard binding (if any), headstock binding (if any) & heel cap will match -
on the Baby, Big Baby, it's none x 6 (16 in all, makes it seem  like there's not a lot there)
type of headstock joint (scarf)
neck heel length is an interesting spec

http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/acoustic/features/appointments/800-series
here, it would be good to provide specs on what is being shown
Fretboard inlay - 800 Series, Pearl
Rosette - Single Ring, Abalone
Binding - Curly Maple
Tuners - Gold Taylor with Gold buttons

While I don't find their site easy to navigate, I did respond in Shannon's thread and was asked to supply more detailed info as to why the new site isn't working for my preferences. I need to set aside the time to write an explicit post because I'm detailed oriented and this would be right up my alley. I'll try to get a response written in the next few days. :)

If the graphics are taking too long to load, your salvation is at hand!

Behold, the Lynx browser is a text-only option. Works on macs, Windows, and Linux. You can get it here!

I don't have any trouble at all with it loading on my iMac, and I have to say its easier to find what I'm interested in than the new Martin website. Both are pretty, both could use a few more specifications that were in the old websites. But I sure would like it to be less random on the displays. I loved on the old site how I could go to the G series or the 700 series and look through all of them one after another. I'm sure you can with the new site but I haven't found it yet and to be honest I don't spend much time trying with any website. It's almost quicker to google the model number and see what links they come up with. Yes I do that since the new websites for both Martin and Taylor came out.

It's not often a major consumer website takes a huge leap in the wrong direction but I think that's what Taylor has done.  It's just not easy to get around and find what I'm looking for vs. the old site.

It takes me exactly three clicks to get to the specs for a 816, and that is going the route of choosing body shape, then series.   Up pops a screen with pictures, and at the bottom the full specs.

I always gave Taylor props for having series in numbers so we could understand it.  The new site has us focus on wood types and body shapes more than the previous, which is good
