Santa Cruz Strings
« on: March 01, 2019, 09:40:25 PM »
Had some spare Amazon gift cards.  So I decided to try the Santa Cruz strings on my 916ce.  I used the Mid Tension stings.

Observations:

1. Tone: Compared to the Elixir PB mediums.  More balanced. Less boomy while maintaining a low end.  My chords are more unique.  With the other strings I felt there was some overlap.  Most notable switching from G to Cadd9.

2. Feel: Good but more squeaky and forces me form the shapes more precisely.

3. Playability:  strings feel less stiff and I can barre the first fret more easily.   Still can’t do an F chord yet.  Now I need to build strength to use the other fingers while maintaining the barre.

Initial thought: I think I like them.

Those of you who tried these strings please give me your feed back.

Thanks.

I put the Santa Cruz Light Tension's on my GS Mini KOA 2 weeks ago, and they are awesome; easy on the fingers and a nice sweet tone

A short while back, I had put the Mid Tension's on my GS Mini KOA, and while I really liked them, I find the Light Tension's easier to play on the shorter scale of the Mini.

I like them too, but not enough to change from my Elixir’s. I currently have the light tension on my Rainsong WS-10000 and it sounds good. They seem to be lasting a while too, fwiw.
