Taylor Balanced Breakout Box - mute light question
« on: September 24, 2018, 11:22:04 PM »
Just purchased a used Taylor Balanced Breakout Box, which I understand is no longer manufactured. Upon receipt, the box functions very well, but the mute light doesn't work. I put a new 9V battery into the unit, and tested the battery to make sure it had a full charge. It looks like the mute light simply doesn't function, but replacing the light doesn't look like a straightforward fix for the electronically uninformed (like me).

Has anyone who still uses one of these breakout boxes had this problem, and is there an easy fix for it?  I sent an inquiry to Taylor, but I'm doubtful that they'll still support this unit, even for a "simple" repair like this one.

I know very little about this product,  but I've read that you have to have plug in a tuner for the light to function

Yes, plug into the inputs, which includes the tuner.
Really rare that LEDs fail, so I doubt it did.  But in the weird event it did, replacing an LED is easy, especially in a unit as simple as Taylor's breakout box.

The other day I borrowed a tuner to plug into the output and presto:  the light works just fine.

Thank you Guitar Cowboy and Edward -- it's the best fix I could have hoped for.  I really appreciate your help!!
