Hi Folks,

I'm in the UK and looking to purchase a Taylor from Wildwood Guitars via the Internet. Please please please reassure me that I can get a great customer service from these guys. The store is endorsed by Bob Taylor himself, so I guess it is ok, but I thought I'd check here first to see if anyone has any first-hand experience of buying or of aftersales service.

Thanks a bundle.

Cheers.

Have bought a couple guitars from Wildwood.  Steve Mesple is good people and he takes very good care of his customers. Nothing but praise for Wildwood...

Thanks Gutch. That's good to hear. I'm dealing with Lance Bowzer right now. He's been very helpful.

Best wishes.

Cheers.

hi Bill,
if you click on 'Home' (upper left orange button) & then put 'wildwood' into
the search bar on the upper right & click 'search' (upper right blue button),
it will show many related posts about wildwood guitars & in fact, there is
another member here, also Bill, who picked up a guitar from them recently -
there are many fine Taylor dealers & because Taylor has allowed them to be
dealers for their guitars, i believe each of them is 'endorsed' by the company

i've heard nothing but good things about their staff, their shop & the way
they treat their customers, so i believe you're in 'great hands' with wildwood

just curious which guitar you're considering ...
sounds like you're in for a fun time :D
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...

Thanks Michael,
Good to hear another positive report about Wildwood Guitars. A good indication indeed.

Lance helped me with my Les Paul Standard purchase last month.  Nice guy.  Smooth transaction.  No problems.

Not to mention the fact that this shop has enough pull to get the manufacturers to build guitars to Wildwood's own specifications says a lot in my book.  Not sure about other makes but Gibson has been building Les Pauls to  Wildwood's spec for years, exclusively for their shop. Wildwood has some pretty good ideas when it comes to customizing a certain model guitar and what has a good chance on being a hit with guitar players. One of the most proactive dealers in the country I'd have to say.

Thanks for that. Then I shall look forward to pursuing this purchase.

cool :)

hi Bill,
i happened to run across a video with an overall view of the series & in that
Bob discusses the characteristics of the bracing pattern, bracing material,
quilted maple & the significance of the silking/medullary rays on a spruce top
http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/acoustics/taylor/index.htm
i especially like Bob's comments on a 600 series guitar (around 14:20) ;D

in succession, Wayne Johnson is playing some of the guitars as well &
i can also see the time & to the extent Taylor has put forth with this
shop, which i have also seen at a few others, this is pretty 'special' :D

The folks at Wildwood could not be recommended any higher by me.  I purchased a Custom '54 Stratocaster from them a few years ago.

They spent a bit of time helping me narrow down to about 4 or 5 specific serial numbers based upon the incredibly detailed photos and the weight range I was looking for.  Then, they went through and played each and every one of them and picked out the one that was closest to what I was looking for in terms of tone and playability.

I was a little skeptical about it until the guitar arrived and it was exactly everything that I was looking for and had discussed with them.  Their Sales and Customer Service is second to none.  There are very few places that I would buy a guitar over $1000 sight unseen (maybe 2 or 3) but I would not hesitate to by from Wildwood again.

I've been in the shop ('bought an hour drive), didn't end up buying, but was wowed by the service. I worked with Steve trying to select a Taylor.

I know you're buying sight unseen, but the in store experience was great. I told Steve the model I wanted to demo and he had a staff member run across the street to their warehouse and bring back three for comparison sake. He set me up in a private room to play plugged and unplugged.

When I wasn't wowed by the ones I tried, he sent the staff member back for three more based on his recommendation. One of those was great and fit the bill. Unfortunately the asthetics (cream binding) didn't work for me. I was really close but wanted to sleep on it. No pressure, very laid back, just "find what is right for you" attitude with everyone there. He actually called Taylor to see if they would do a modify a "Wildwood model" one off.

I ended up going another direction but wouldn't hesitate to do business with them.

Thank you everyone for your positive comments about "Wildwood Guitars". I have decided to pursue this and am buying one like this:
http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/products/1111010105.php?CategoryID=85&n=4
This isn't the exact one 'cos they've already pulled the details off their website. But, it is an 814CE Wildwood CV. Really excited now! I have to say that Lance Bowzer has been extremely helpful all along, right from my first contact. Thank you Lance!

Yes, buying 'sight unseen' is a risk, but this is a Taylor and I am confident that it is a top class purchase. Lance went through all of the 814CE guitars currently in stock at "Wildwood Guitars" and picked out the one he thought played the best. I trust his judgment.
All-in-all, I'm very pleased with my experience of "Wildwood Guitars" and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Thanks all again for chipping in with your comments. Have a good weekend!
