In rough terms it seems to be about 1 MB per minute of CD-quality music (.MP3 format). So a readily-available 16 GB memory stick will hold something like 240-260
hours of music.

I think it's possible; generally the files will be played in order (ether numeric or alphabetic) based on the file name. If you create folders on the memory stick, you can group files for playback (e.g., by album name). But .MP3 files on a memory stick is about as basic as it gets from the standpoint of playing music files on a car radio system; it's not as sophisticated a storage device as, say, an iPod, which will interact with the radio's playback software to some degree to automatically play albums, playlists, etc.
