Gotoh 510's For a 614e

Today I ordered nickel Gotoh 510's for my 614e. Are these easy enough to change myself or would it be best to have it done by my guitar tech?

It really depends on how handy you are. I took mine to my local tech to install. No fuss - no muss....there is an inner shafts that will be installed in the holes vacated by your current tuners. I personally didn't want to mess with it.

It looks straight forward and I have upgraded tuners on 3 strats and these look like they would be about the same. Then again, I paid almost twice what I paid for two American standard strats, so maybe I'll take it to my tech. Thanks.

Hello can i chip in ? Is there any real benefit over the original tuners if u install the Gotoh 510 ? Better sustain or tuning stability .
My 512 came with Taylor stamped logo tuners and i find them real stable .

There's a higher gear ratio on the 510s. So your tuning would be more precise. If you're happy with current performance, there's no need for a change. Some prefer the look of the 510s over standard tuners...

The gear ratio on the Gotohs is 21:1, but I changed them because I like the look.

Thanks for that information, as I was also wondering if there was any perceptible difference in tone or sustain. Was thinking maybe more mass at the headstock might change things a tidbit but the increased control over tuning is what I am looking for. The stock tuners are very good and do not slip or bind....so just a preference thing and not a quality thing in my case.
