UPDATE: Finish Cracks on My Brand New 210e Deluxe
« on: November 13, 2016, 03:04:48 PM »
I've noticed some hairline cracks in the finish of my brand new 210e Deluxe purchased on 11/08  :(.  There are at least two cracks are on the back and a couple on the sides.  The top is perfect.  The cracks run with the grain of the laminated rosewood but you can definitely see and feel them with your finger.

A buddy I play with in church with has the same guitar in sunburst.  I picked his up today to look for something similar and his is flawless.  I'm taking it back tomorrow.  Not sure what they will tell me.  I realize it's a made in Mexico guitar and only sells for $X but I don't believe it's up to Taylor's standards.

Is this a common problem with the 100/200 series guitars?  I did a lot of searching on line, and didn't find any complaints about this issue.

I would say call Taylor's customer service, see what they have to say.

It's a dealer issue in my opinion.  If I call Taylor customer service, they will ask me if I have taken the guitar back to the place where I purchased it.

When I had an issue, I started with the dealer. They confirmed it was a valid issue for Taylor. They contacted Taylor with the pictures and my contact information. Then Taylor contacted me with the directions on sending it to Taylor, and provided a shipping label. Then, I dealt only with Taylor, until it was serviced and sent back.

The dealer took it back no questions asked.  They said the poly looked extremely thick which could have caused the cracks.

I came home with a beautiful 214ce Koa Deluxe.  :)

WOW! Thats funny. I have a 210DLX perfect condition that I'm selling and I just picked up a 214ce-K DLX. I just switched the chrome tuners for gold Taylor branded tuners it blends nicely with the koa, Now I have to change the strap button to gold. At least you got your situation straightened out and the dealer does the right thing and sent the guitar back to Taylor.

Congrats on the new 214ce Koa DLX. Those 200 DLX series are some seriously nice guitars at a great price point. Sorry to hear about your first one but glad it was no issue for the dealer and Taylor to make you happy.
