Where can I get a Replacement Nut- GS Mini?
« on: October 04, 2016, 01:18:02 PM »
I was tweaking my GS Mini a little, and filing the nut slots, and low and behold, I went too far on one of the slots.

Where can I get a good replacement nut? And are replacement nuts slotted?

Thank you
M

I'd give Taylor customer service a call. They'd probably send one out to you.

I called Taylor, yeah, they'll send me one for $XX + Postage.

Just wondering if there's a better nut before I order.

Thank you,
M

I would imagine you could get a bone nut and any other material from any guitar parts supplier.  Allparts has them as does Stewmac.  For me, Taylor would be the one to buy because they are the nut that is designed to work best with your guitar.

Hi Marc,

Filling a nut slot that is too deep is pretty standard stuff not only for a guitar tech, but for anyone who is already bent toward DIY-ing.  If you already have the proper files, I will presume that you know what you're looking for and are not afraid to work toward that specific goal.  Thus, you should simply fill the slot, then re-file to taste.  It is less work than replacing a nut then going through the whole process again, IMHO.  Read up on it ...pretty straight-forward job :)
