Guitar Seat
« on: August 18, 2016, 07:25:09 PM »
I usually sit on an office chair with removed arms but at times it's too much of a hassle to roll/carry it to where I can practice my guitar without bothering my wife's activities.
I've tried a guitarist seat that has a back and foot pegs but after adjustments it was way too high for my liking, it's now out in the shop.
We have a small office that I can close the door and play away so I did a search last night and I came up with a drummers seat called Rock N Soc Nitro Hydraulic Throne.
The seat adjusts from 18" to 24" simply by lifting the side lever and the seat swivels.

We went to town today to try one out and I was quite impressed, but the store couldn't match the price I found online.
Available separately, I can add a back rest and a guitarist footrest, if I feel the need to, or leave it as is.

What's nice is it breaks down so you can throw it in the car or store it in a corner.
Now I can practice almost anywhere, yeah!
I think it will come in handy for my wife's travel harp too.

Has anyone else bought one?
What do you use for a guitar chair?

I've been using a Fender branded 24" swivel top bar stool, but am seriously considering buying a Sound Seat. It's not cheap, but I can't find any bad reviews anywhere.

I use a 24" Fender barstool also. Works fine. Been thinking about getting a Taylor branded one.

Nice choice of seats, something I missed in my search but like you said not cheap.
Here's the Rock N Soc with the back included which is more affordable.

I use whatever the hotel room has...but at home I splurged on a pic-n-glider and it has really helped my posture and lower back when playing. I had the stools before but found them uncomfortable for more than 20-30 minutes.

+1 on this.  The most comfortable guitar chair I've ever used.

I have two Pick N' Gliders. Worth the money. I've had mine for over 20 years and still look like new. Love the glide, and the back support is priceless.

I use this one with the backrest removed and set much higher. The height is about double of what it is in this pic and to me the backrest is useless.

My son is a drummer and he uses a rock n soc throne. Very confotable seat for a drummer. I have not used it to play guitar tho. I have a taller Rock n Soc stool that I prefer.

When you're happy you enjoy the music. But, when you're sad you understand the lyrics.

I've been using an office chair with the right arm off for several years now but splurged last week and bought a pick n glider when Musicians Friends had a Labor Day Sale and scored free delivery.

I've developed some back/hip issues and believe some of it can be attributed to the way I sit when playing, I tried a friends PnG and really liked it.
