removing nut
« on: October 16, 2015, 08:30:43 PM »
I'm wanting to remove the nut to take some material off the bottom ( lower action at first fret) . On my 616. Does it sit in a channel and knock it out from the side by tapping it or should I tap it out from the direction of the neck. It looks like from the side. Any advice would be appreciated...thanks.

Normally the action at that end is set by filing the string slots deeper. I'd recommend having a complete set-up done by your local dealer. Always well worth the money. Nuts are "usually" easy to knock off by placing a block of wood squarely against the nut, and sitting on the fretboard. One soft tap with a hammer will do it, with no damage.
