NGD - Koa!
« on: November 17, 2014, 10:09:30 PM »
The 324ce-K FLTD I ordered last Friday found its new home today! It looks even better to me than the pics on the website indicated. I am thrilled with the wood, the finish, and the tone. Just a wonderful instrument I am blessed to own.  :D

Does the three piece back make a huge tonal difference?
I've always been leary of those.

Hard to say - comparing it to my others is like apples and oranges of course. Mine does have a three piece back but I certainly don't hear a tonal deficiencies. It is different than my 512e 12-fret and the 414ce I had. That's to be expected of course. I guess the real answer is "I don't know."  ;)

Welcome to the koa club. These Taylor koas are special. Yours is beautiful....I especially like the light/dark wood in the center on the front and the streaked fretboard. You picked a real winner. Congrats!

I've always been leary of those.

My 656ce has a three-piece back, and to me it's tone is indistinguishable from a 'standard' two-piece 656ce that I played.

Congratulations Ronmcc4.  So now your part of the Koa club.  Your is very nice, I like the way they matched up the top wood, and the fingerboard is cool.

Indeed, congrats!  I'm sure it sounds great, but aesthetically that's a really nice one, IMHO.  I'm personally not a real fan of the "streaked" fingerboards, but your fingerboard works perfectly with the aesthetic "theme" of the entire top and headstock ...really nice, enjoy!  :)
