Cory,
Just so you know, the explanation for "different song; different artists" refers only to the directly previous song before a post which is the one on which you cannot repeat the same title and artist accoriding to the rules. You can repeat the same title according to the rules, but with a different artist, but again I ask why bother. In a separate personal email SF actually gave me a valid reason for doing it. Just to be clear, you cannot repeat the same artist, even with a different song and never could. Once upon a time you could also not repeat the same title, even with a different artist.
It has nothing at all to do with whether or not a song, by the same poster used the same artist and title for a post at some point previously at any point in the game, whether a couple of posts previously or 20 pages previously.
By putting "different song; different artists" in my posts, I am guaranteeing that my post is, to the best of my knowledge, not in violation of the rules. It is also why I put a 'youtube' reference to my entries. That is, so others can hear what song I used and not repeat it blindly without thinking.* I was in no way in violation of any posted rules. (They have changed a few times over the years.) I posted this (Ray's) version because it was way different from George's cover version, and I knew it was the same song all the time. I just thought somebody might get a kick out of it. My musical listening knowledge goes back through the 50s in many genres, and I know many songs made popular before then, including many before I was born.
So I ask you, Cory, "What's your point?" and "What exactly are you saying?"
Don
Edit > * There are many songs known by more than one title. For example, the song one person may know as "Will You Go Lassie, Go", another person may know as "Wild Mountain Thyme", or maybe even by other words or titles for/from that same song.
And I would expand the use of 'blindly' in my sentence above to include any answer given under any sensory deprivation(s).
