What Taylor guitar do you regret letting go the most.
« on: February 07, 2014, 03:10:44 PM »
I can recall three guitars that I truly regret letting go.

1)  716 LTD Madagascar

2) 716 LTD Imbuia

3)  414 LTD Walnut

How about you, are there any guitars that you wish you had not let go.

only Taylor i've let go is my K10ce. not sure if that one's really gone as i haven't been paid for it yet. there are tons of others that i let slip away with little regret except an Adamas 2080sr(even though i still have it's twin).
like Jersey, of the ones i have, i wouldn't dream of letting any go unless there were unforeseen financial circumstances.

Ha! Your 09 716 is the same as mine that I let go. You at least had a legit reason.  I do know that my old Maddy is in good hands.

yep
i have no regrets regarding why  i had to let those guitars go, along with a 06 410LTD walnut, 05 810L10
cocobolo a 85 610, ns24e, martin om1, peavey firenza, tacoma jm16, walden d710, yamaha fs720s & a 09
chevrolet aveo with barely 3K miles on it ... i have absolutely no regrets whatsoever about letting that car go :P

the first 3 i listed, i know i'll never find ones that are their equal &
if i had to do it again, i wouldn't hesitate to make the same decision -
i just hope there isn't a next time, as fred's a good bit older now &
he may not "bounce bacK" like he did, which took a good 18 months

I no longer let go of guitars unless it is for a known quantity: a specific gear need or upgrade.  So while I've sold many a Taylor (et al) in the past, I don't technically "regret" it since it was always for a better return on investment, so to speak.

One exception: my '07 GA7e of old.  Such a "plain" guitar by many standards but that cedar/rw was stinkin magical!  Particularly with the dearth of cedar in Taylor's line of late.  I hope to one day re-aquire a cedar-topped Taylor, hopefully a slothead or even 12F!  ...no time soon, but one day  :)

The ones I regret selling most are my Taylor 455 and Taylor GA8. If I could only turn back the hands of time and reverse a few bad decisions...

My 210.

Luckily I got it back from a very understanding friend a couple days later (who ended up with a nice 310 later on).

I can recall three guitars that I truly regret letting go.

3)  414 LTD Walnut

Those are sweet boxes and it must hurt:-) The 414 is particularly interesting ... looks like the  previous 8 series curly maple binding? They frequently pack some serious value add in the 4 LTDs (sometimes).

My biggest regret is an old d28 ... I like my last ((current) 816 tone better,  but so much of what I play was originally recorded on Martin dreads, I have been looking to add another one. BUT I have yet to find one that has the missing tone, nor the playability of my Taylors. I played a 710  that almost was a worthy compromise. But that one slipped it off with someone else before I could rally the troops (my in house accountant). Lately I've found some very nice Eastman's in this category - the tone is different really though, and though I. almost like the tone better I'm worrying I will be back out looking at more traditional dreads. Would love to find a Taylor that had that sound, def don't care about the label.
