Greetings from Winnipeg (aka Winterpeg)
« on: October 27, 2013, 02:27:41 PM »
Prolly shoulda stopped here first to introduce, but started a post elsewhere first.  I'm an IT guy and have been for over 13 years.  I design, plan, and implement small/medium sized business environments.  I supervise a team of network technicians and specialists.

Years ago I had a dream of being a musician, and some friends actually did so.  I however, needed to pay the rent.  Sadly, as the years passed by, I played less and less and worked more and more.  I lost any remnants of callouses over ten years ago, and haven't played regularly for about 20-25.

I recently decided that playing music was far too important to ignore, and thought I might like to try picking up banjo.  This then changed to mandolin, and eventually I thought "I've always loved the Taylor sound, maybe I should just get one of those instead of a banjo or mandolin."

Next thing ya know...I've just purchased a 316ce.  Waiting for a string change and setup, so I don't have it in my possession yet ( I know, I know...no pic it didn't happen!), but pics will come soon.

My wife and I (no kids, 1 dog aka furkid) spend the majority of our weekends at Lake of the Woods, Ontario.  I have two boats there, one "cruiser", and a small 16' fishing boat.  I am a HUGE fishing and boating nut, and I have a hobby website I built - www.mylakeofthewoods.com that you are welcome to visit.  We think it's one of the most beautiful places on earth (caveat - in the summer!!), and would rather be nowhere else.

My username is my boat's name....a little triple entendre..."Sol" being the spanish word for sun, "Sol" being a Mexican beer, and the implied "Soul" (but I am not religious  at all.  "Spiritual" possibly, but in a personal sense only).

There ya go, the Reader's Digest version.  Glad I found the forum, and look forward to being here often.

Oh ya... GO JETS GO!!!  lol

Welcome to the forum Sol.  You picked a nice guitar.  Now you get to look forward to the pain of the fingers for a while, do you remember that?  haha
