NGD!!
« on: July 05, 2012, 05:58:29 AM »
At long last, my first Taylor, a  modified 2012 914 has arrived last July 2. Haven’t have much time to post here because I was so busy playing this beauty.
Let me share my impressions:
1.   Playability is top notch. I asked for a modified nut width of 1 11/16th and  I like it a lot.
2.   Hands down the best sounding guitar I have auditioned so far. At first I was in a serious dilemma because I ordered it online and I might be displeased with the sound, but I was wrong. I tried a lot of Goodalls, Collings, other Taylors, Martins, Gibsons, none of this comes close to the clarity of my 914 with Engelmann Top. Bass are so clear yet not so boomy, and the Mids and Highs are bell-like clear (if that makes sense).  The difference between the sound of the 814 I auditioned before and my guitar is night and day. Maybe it’s just because of the Engelmann top, or it’s just this particular guitar of mine.
3.   Another thing, a lot of people says that Engelmann can’t be driven as hard as a Sitka top. Well this particular guitar’s tone just won’t break as hard as I strum it! From mild to hard strumming, it just keeps it ‘s clarity. But fingerstyle is where it truly shines. Every note that my finger plucks just oozes with clarity. First time I strummed this guitar, I literally closed my eyes and smiled. That’s how good it sounds. If Jesus has a guitar, it would sound like this  (LOL! I’m just really in love with this guitar!)
4.   It is beautiful! At first I was concerned that the guitar might have too much bling for my taste but again, I’m wrong. For me, everything looks right with the 914, especially the Cindy inlay!
Just last week , I was GAS-ing for a Ryan Paradiso, but now that it’s here, it definitely cured my GAS. I don’t know for how long but as of now, I’m really contented and satisfied.
All I wanted before was a Takamine EG 460sc.  A 914 was just a dream, but everything went by so fast. I never expected that I would eventually get my own 914, seven months after I posted a picture of it online with a description of  “My dream guitar” and now, it’s here in my hands.

My thanks to Jim of Guitar Rodeo, for making my dream a reality (so cheesy!) wahahaha..

Well that’s it, thanks for those who would spend their time in reading my post.

I love my 914! 

Nice new guitar.  The inlay is very nice.

My dream guitar! Especially with the 1 11/16th neck. I bet it's a joy to play.

Me too! The purfling seems to bring out the reddish parts of the East Indian Rosewood
