Cedar topped Cocobolos

Just wondering whether anyone has had any experience with these? I'm thinking of a BTO.

Truth be told I'm not 100% impressed with the GS shape. It's loud, but other than that it just sounds like a over-EQ'd guitar where the bass and trebles have been turned up high at the expense of all mids (and the bass too high to the point where it sounds more like a bass guitar rather than an acoustic guitar). I'm finding more and more that my Martin is my go-to guitar, and that my old 814ce was actually better than this 716ce... Even my old 2010 410ce LTD which I found to be too quiet for fingerpicking sounded 'thumpier' when strummed - so if I find an interested buyer I think I'll take it out of rotation. I mean, I still enjoy it, but only occasionally before I'm over the sound. I can now understand why the GS hasn't overtaken the GA as Taylor's most popular shape. As much as Bob has hyped it up, there's just no balance.

I like the complex overtones of the Cocobolo. I also like the sound of a 714ce with Cedar - but feel that the 514ce is too muddy. How would Cocobolo sound with it - anyone have any experiences?

I too am a GA-lover. After playing virtually every other brand and shape, the Taylor GA is what a guitar should play, sound and look like for me. It's just perfect! Now onto your idea about coco and cedar. I'm contemplating my next GA BTO, and it's either going to be an engelmann/rosewood or- you guessed it - a cedar/cocobolo. Based upon the sonic qualities of these two woods, I think that they'd be a killer combination! (I've never played one, but I believe that it would be a safe bet for me.) From a visual aesthetics perspective, my imagination is running wild with great ideas on how to finish off the look!

...so should I tell you how I really feel?
