What an afternoon!
I picked my new GS Mini Mahogany from three that Jim had just gotten in (a very straight grained top and a great match with the Sapele B/S laminate) with a full but not overbearing sound, promptly had him remove the pick-guard (no heat, no solvent, just a slow and careful peel), and spent time playing in DADGAD and admiring the little bugger in the back room whilst Jim wrote up my BTO order:
GC, 12 fret, short scale, V-cutaway, slot head with ebony overlay.
All straight-grained mahogany with red paste fill stain (including the neck), 2-piece back (no wedge), ebony binding, gloss finish (including the neck) and ebony 3-ring rosette.
No fret-board, head-stock or bridge inlay, no ES, no back-strap.
Bone nut and saddle.
With the 12-month no interest deal going from Taylor, it'll be about $200/mo for the year. What a deal!
As Jim was finishing up a late phone call, I got to hear his bluegrass group practicing (sans banjo). Sweet sound!
