I am growing increasingly impatient for the delivery of my new GA5, cedar top, tobacco sunburst, ES installed. I was told it would be delivered in 45 days (which is now past) and now have been told it won’t be shipped until 6/12. Bummer.
I know that Taylor builds 100,000 guitars each year so I can imagine the “build” schedule is complex. But I’ve been advised that Taylor will prefer large orders from the big box music stores when scheduling. My guitar was bumped to fit in an order from a big music store.
I guess that makes sense business wise, but I’m not exactly a casual shopper purchasing a low end Taylor. I think they need to be careful to keep their long time, loyal customers happy. I’m not sure how many of us on the UTGF who own multiple Taylors purchase off the store room floor of a big music store. My guess is not too many.
Hmmmmm.
Well, one particular "big box" stores spends
millions a year with Taylor. There's no reason why you should be kept more happy than them but, in, all fairness, there's no reason they should be kept more happy than you. That said, price point doesn't dictate the value of a shopper.
Business is business. Taylor is in business to make money. If push comes to shove, they're going to defer to the customer that's spending millions upon millions of dollars a year. You say that they should want to keep their long-time loyal customers happy. I can assure you, by moving your GA5 to a big box order, they did
exactly that. That big box store is their customer, too, and is no less valuable as a customer than anyone else...
