Taylor guitar question
« on: May 04, 2012, 06:12:09 PM »
Hey guys, I recently bought a used second-hand Taylor 210 guitar. But soon after I got home I realised the sticker inside the guitar says its a model "210-g". I checked the Taylor website and there isn't a model "210-g" listed there, only the normal 210. May I know why my guitar has a "g" on its model number? What difference does the 210-g have from the original 210? Or did I buy a fake Taylor guitar?

Thank you so much for your help.  :)

Hi there Oig12!  Great to have you here!  Please make yourself at home.   ;D

As for the 210-G...I'm not quite sure...but there are hundreds of more knowledgeable people here that know a lot more about Taylors than I do...I'm sure they'll chime in!

@oig12,

It would be great if you could post pictures of the guitar, and the sticker w/ the model and serial number.

Welcome to the site and I hope you enjoy it here.

By the way, every question posed in this forum is a "Taylor guitar question."  You might get a better response with a more-specific thread title.

Actually, it doesn't.

Originally, the 200 had a gloss top. Then the specs changed to where they had a satin top. When the 200 Series went back to a gloss top, the "G" after the model number to denote a gloss top.

It doesn't have anything to do with it having a gig bag...

I stand corrected. Taylor CS needs to tighten up.

Seriously?

No. You're kidding me! They said it was because it came with a gig bag??

the baby, big baby & 100 series had a GB designation for a while (for gigbag)

the 200 series didn't have a GB designation because it never came with a gigbag -
it was either a hardshell case (03-early 09) or a hardbag, which, imho, offers better
protection than the flat-top lid hardshell cases (especially the last series made)

there was also the 97 614 GB (Gerry Beckley) model

Thank you guys so much for your help. So my Taylor has a "g" on the model number because it has a gloss top?

Thank you so much.
