NGD older Big Baby
« on: April 21, 2012, 12:21:39 PM »

Newbie here, I really wanted to like the GS Mini. I had gone to my local guitar store and played a lot of acoustic and really liked the Mini, it was perfect size, and had great sound, but I couldn't bond with the shorter scale length. So I checked out the BBT, nice, not as good of a sound as the Mini, but the neck felt great.

Came home ad researched the BBT and looked online to see if there were any used ones near me for sale... lucked into and older one made in El Cajon. It's a relic... the top has quite a few scratches and small dents, looks like one of the first owners played like Pete Townsend. But it plays and sounds great.

The GC I got it from is in a town that requires them to hold purchased/traded items for 30 days before reselling. It had just come available to sell the night before I bought it and had become the shop favorite. The funny thing is how much better it sounded than a lot of the guitars being tried out by other customers and I was the first customer to even pick it up, their loss. :)

Well anyway, great guitar, great forum, time to play...

A big "Welcome" to the forum. Hope you find it a nice place to hang out.

And congrats on a great find. Isn't it amazing how consistently Taylor gets their signature sound from all their guitars.

Love those Taylors!

Well maybe he did, haha On the other hand at least someone really played it.

Mine is from 1999, got a monster dent in it from when my Tele landed on it years ago (don't ask ;) ), but it has never played nor sounded better as today.  Just a great guitar!  Congrats!
