My New DN-7e has arrived
« on: March 19, 2012, 10:36:19 AM »
My new 2012 DN-7e finally arrived.  I was very glad to see that it looks just like the one in "Wood and Steel" and as on the website.  My photographic skills are not very good and, the burst finish is very difficult to photo accurately.  Here is my best attempt at photos.  I'll have a friend who is a photographer take some better ones soon.

The Guitar is flawless and smells of freshly sawn rosewood.  I set the action to my taste and made some changes.  I always try to personalize my guitars a little bit.  I don't think anyone else will have exactly the same look as this one.

I really wanted a vintage look so I've replaced the gold hardware with chrome.  I also replaced the tuning pegs with some ivoriod ones that I bought.  They match the binding very well.  I think that it looks like a nice new 30's or 40's ish new guitar. (If Taylor were to be around then).  What do you think?

I purchased this from LA Guitar sales and could'nt be happier.  Ted and Helene were great and I will be giving then my business from now on!  Check with them 1st when considering a purchase.

The sound is softer than I expected.  The Engelman top probably.  Much different than Sitka or Adirondak.  Just as it has been described in other posts, between Cedar and Sitka.  I love it!

That's very nice!

I thought the 7xx series had a white ring in the rosette - I have to say that the abalone looks nice with the burst.

Ooooh, yeah, very nice.  Congrats!

I love what engelmann brings to the table ...great overall punch but without the zingy top-end of regular spruce.  My engel is on my GC body and love it; with rosewood in a dred body it's got to be a joyous canon!  Enjoy that beauty :)

Beautiful! I was looking through the catalog last week and remembered you'd ordered the DN7 -- looks like it was well worth the wait!

The tuners are a great addition. Very nice. Are you set against a pickguard or undecided?

Just when I thought I was set on a 12-fret over another dreadnought... ;)

:)  Thanks for all the great comments!  To reply;  Sachi:  The 7xx does have the triple white ring rosette.  The DN series has different appointments.  ATAYLOR:  I am undecided on a pickguard.  It came with a clear one in the case and a removeable clear also.  I might consider a Taylor shaped firestripe or Dalmation pattern guard at some point, though I don't really need one.  S MS Picker:  I got the tuning buttons about a year ago on the bay.  Something about them just said buy them, even without a specific plan.  Glad I did.

I hav'nt had too much playing time yet.  Tomorrow night I'll put it through its' paces at my regular get together.

congrats doug :)

that sure is a purrty DN7e -
i especially like the grain pattern & finish of the top :D

the ivoroid tuner buttons are a nice touch too -
i think they'd fit right in with the current 700 aesthetics also 8)

thanks for sharing the pics & enjoy 'er :)

Great minds think alike -- I've often wondered about getting a firestripe Taylor-shaped pickguard made for a guitar like that. :)

Greven told me that the waiting period for a pickguard from them is now 8 months.  Anybody know another place to have a firestripe guard made?
