Just played a 510 L9... WOW
« on: March 15, 2012, 10:17:42 PM »
I have NEVER really liked a mahogany bodied guitar, and I'm not the biggest DN fan out there.  My friend just brought over his 2004 510 L9 (short scale) and the thing blew me away!  I compared it to my new 2011 fall 416ce (rw and spruce) and I don't know which one I liked better.

I don't know if this is normal for hog guitars, but I'm definitely going to give them more of a look in the future!

Taylor does very good things with Mahogany. I'm not surprised you liked it.

I use to have a 2004 510 L9, no cut away or electronics, but it did have the short scale neck, which was very comfortable.  It also had the snow flake fret board markers, it was a nice touch.

I like the mahogany sound.  However I let it go so I could get a 514ce, and I am pleased with it.  I think the 500 series are excellent sounding and built guitars.

I just sold a 710CE-L9,still have a 710-L9 Brazilian, and a 2006 410 CE short scale. They all seem to have a more mature? sound. I love the reduced string tension also.
