I like the maple.
Does anybody have a inkling as to how the blackwood mini will sound in comparison to the others. I have never heard a blackwood guitar before. Thinking of ordering a GS Mini in blackwood or rosewood.

Thinking of ordering a GS Mini in blackwood or rosewood.Since the back and sides are laminate, the only difference I think is aesthetics. I read this somewhere. Kinda like the 114 and 214 are essentially the same guitar except for the outside layer veneer which is not a tonal factor.

while the GS Mini LTDs will probably have sapele inner veneer, regardless of the outer veneer, there is a little bit more of a difference between a 114 & 214 (depending on the exact model)114 - sapele laminate, varnish finish (all satin)214 - gloss top with satin finish back & sides, rosewood inner & outer veneer214ce-BLK - all gloss (body & neck), hard rock maple neck, maple inner & outer veneerafter playing & hearing last year's 214ce & DDX (now 214ce-BLK), the DDX hada 'crisper' tone to my ear, which may be just variances between the 2 guitars, or,it could be partially due to the differences between the two (finish, veneers & neck) -the 2012s switch from a Tusq nut & saddle to NuBone (both made by Graph Tech),so there may be a minute change due to that (the 10/11 GS Mini use NuBone also)
