initially the smaller nut width was a turn-off for me... but I played one and ended up loving it even though I prefer the 1.75" nut... i've gotten used to it so its all good

I've played a couple of mini's since they were introduced.  Liked the sound, but haven't bought one because of the narrower neck.  I can wait for a 1 3/4 width version.  I'm really hoping the limited versions Bob talked about a few Wood and Steel issues ago, the ones that will supposedly have solid B/S wood and binding, will have an option of a wider neck.  If not, well so be it.

I can guarantee you those won't have a list price of $XXX.00.

It seemed as though, as soon as the GS Mini was released, people started complaining about it. They were asking why it wasn't solid wood, or why it had the narrower neck, or abalone rosettes, or any one of a myriad of other things. A lot of those folks were also the ones who also scoffed at the idea of paying more for such a guitar.

The GS Mini is what it is. It's a really nice travel guitar. It's not intended to be anything more than its designers had in mind.

I'm a big guy, and have big hands. My preference for a nut width is 1-7/8", but the 1-11/16" is no great adjustment...

It's only 1/16", but it's a *big* 1/16"!!!   ;)

Yes. I couldn't believe that such a small increase would make all that much difference so didn't try a wider neck for YEARS.  But for me and my wide ring finger it is the difference between clean chords and finger rattles. No contest. My old 1-11/16 guitar simply doesn't get played anymore. It's too much struggle to play cleanly.

Sold my GS Mini for this reason alone.  I might consider getting one if Taylor issued them in a 1.75" nut, but even still, it be as a small couch guitar, not a travel guitar.  As it is, I now own a Voyage Air VAOM-04 and that thing is downright amazing
