New to me …2010? 512 ce
« on: May 24, 2025, 03:33:44 PM »
I just got a very sweet GCce from 2010 or so.   Cedar over Mahogany short 24.75” scale.  12 fret.

The perfect old man axe.  Well, less a bevel and Manzer wedge, and other fave stuff.  Haha

Currently getting love from Taylor.

Sounds fantastic. Warm and fat even tuned down to D where my guitars live

Super clean.  Woohoo

After Bob finally started making SS 12 frets, and before AP and his ADD.   Sigh…

Man I asked for this configuration for a dozen years!  Not that my input was important. But oh, well

That is a nice find, Paul.  I lusted after a 714 back when they were cedar / redwood in the early 2000's.  But by the time I could afford one that high on the food chain, they had stopped making that combination.  Sigh.  The single best Taylor guitar I ever played was a 12-fret 522 in my LGS.  I still remember it years later.  Although it was wonderful, I was simply not in the market for anything at that time.  You can't adopt them all.....

Andy Power's ADD.... I like it!   8)
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Huge congrats, Paul!  I have always loved the Taylor 12F ...wish I could have one in a GA as that would be the perfect guit for me, let alone in cedar.  My long-gone GA7e in ced/rw was a superb live guit!  And your 2010 would have the ES1.3, nice!  But you are refretting it with SS frets or factory? ...this is a game changer!  I vividly recall Bob had said in vids he was opposed to the sound of SS fret, to which I strongly disagree.   My current gigger has EVO wire (and taller/wider) and it is a huge improvement.  Post pics ...and enjoy! :D

The serial number will tell you the exact date the guitar came off the line. No need to guess the year as 2010. https://www.taylorguitars.com/support/general/decoding-taylor-guitars-serial

Congrats on the new to you guitar!
