NGD AD27e Flametop

New guitar day. I received the new Taylor AD27e Flametop maple. After an 18hr overnight acclimate, I unboxed the new 2022 AD27e. I was nervous since I’d not played it before buying. First, the gig bag will take getting used to. I would prefer a hard case (not the tooled look tho) in the winter months for humidity. Plus we have a pet and it attracts hair easily. So out came the lint roller. My guitar has really really nice flame and figured maple back sides and top. Just stunning and gorgeous for a maple geek like me. I jumped on it as soon as I saw it on reverb. Came out nice I think. I did the standard hold up and rotate for inspection of fit and finish in the sunlight of morning. Just glows! The stain/paint job is perfect. It is darker in person than photos online. Started with an open E string and A2 chord. Okay… hmm this is some good sustain and is balanced. A characteristic of a good Grand Pacific that I’ve tried. Warmer and woody. The bass notes were full and round. It reminded me of a really nice SJ200 I’d owned. Not harsh and brash. I’d strummed with a thicker Martin-Dunlop yellow pick (mm unknown) & has a softer attack. These monel-esque strings seem to compliment the package. Jury’s out on the long haul for those strings, but will see. Tried some chords up and down and did some fingerstyle. Nice separation with clear notes. Not jangly like a couple youtube videos I’ve seen. Opposite really. Much smoother to my ears & pleasant really. The one thing I noticed is a little thicker neck profile. Not sure if that is a vintage homage or not. I have big paws & it seemed a tad wider and thicker like a vintage Gibson to me. Not sure how they voiced a maple top like this, but there’s some nice mojo to have this tone which is special-so far. It’s a bit like 3 guitar makers and a few models added their own tones to a recipe. Unique. Smooth. Comfortable even. Organic was a good description from vids. Whatever it is, I keep coming back with sore fingers and am drawn to playing it as much as I can… exploring that offering. I also plugged the ES2 into my Bose S1 with a small tweak here and there and found very useable amplified sound. Forget what you think a maple top will sound like. It’s simply not at all that laminate thing we all walk past at the box store. And to each your own ymmv etc. Take one for a test drive for fun if you’re able. A vid and a sound clip don’t do justice. Play on!

Very nice looking maple all around. Sounds like the tone is unique and checks all the boxes for you. Congrats!

Very nice. I personally like the stain color very much. The back is a wood grain I have not seen before with maple, it is an all-around beauty.

Very pretty guitar - I'm a maple lover as well. The GPs I've played have been quite impressive - with a maple top, you surely have a unique sounding instrument - congrats!

Not usually a maple fan here, but wow, that thing looks stunning. Will be interested to try one sometime out of curiosity. Enjoy!

Nice looking guitar, and for those like me who don't want or need electronics, Taylor includes the following as part of the online narrative:
It's available both with and without ES2 electronics.
