DHL arrived bringing my new GS Mini Mahogany. It sounds fantastic. I can't wait for it to open up even more. I think it looks good, too.

What do you all think of it?

I like it! The top is cool, along with the streaked fretboard. You're going to love the GSM. They are fun and sound great. Congrats!

I think I got lucky with the wood. It really looks better in person than in the pictures.

It usually does, that's true.

Nice lookin' guitar but it's not going to "open up" like you think it will since it's a laminate and not a solid guitar.

Well, the top is solid mahogany, the softest of the hardwoods, so I would expect some change as the top vibrates over time.

I think the top will only get better. I'm no expert on guitars but it is true with other instruments so I imagine it will be here, too. Time will tell. Even if not, it has a great sound out of the box.

What really amazes me is the sound these small guitars produce. It is louder than it should be. Another thing that is striking is the tone of this mahogany. I've always thought that spruce and rosewood were the way to go, and probably they are, but Taylor seems to have the magic formula for mahogany. I have a friend who has two expensive XXXXX dreadnaught guitars in mahogany and they sound nice, but not nearly as nice as the GS Mini Mahogany guitars I've heard, including this one.

A person with a sick mind like me would think to himself, "Hmmm, perhaps I can collect all of the variations of the GS Mini?"  :)
