Tell me about Hardtail Strat bridges
« on: June 15, 2020, 08:49:36 AM »
Tell me about Hardtail Strat bridges and graphite saddles to accompany them. I view publisher site https://www.stereoshore.com/best-strat-bridges/ , but still have questions.  I'm getting closer to ordering a hardtail Strat body from Warmoth, but I don't know anything about spacing or bridges, etc. This is going to be a "Modern" sounding guitar with HBs so I don't need vintage correct sound, just a good solid, string through body bridge that someone (Graphtech?) makes graphite saddles to fit.

Which should I choose and why?

You will want to get an F Spaced bridge pickup so the poles line up.
I have a Fender HH telecaster with a Stratocaster Hardtail bridge.
I wanted the Seymour Duncan Hot Rod pickup set so I installed a
SH-2 Jazz in the neck and a TB-4 Trembucker in the bridge. The TB-4 is a JB pickup that is F-Spaced.
Trembucker is Seymour Duncan’s word for F spaced.
All of the strings on my HH telecaster line up with the poles perfectly.

on your link you shared comparing bridge types.
The Gotoh style bridge pieces I have found will dig into the heel of my hand. I do alot of muting (as most heavy distorted players do).
The small set-screws that adjust individual action stick up and gouge my hand.
One of my pet peeves is a rough bridge. It has to be smooth so I can roll my heel to control muting.
I much prefer the flatter pieces of the Floyd Rose bridge.

StewMac sells all kinds of bridge styles and spacing.
