Well....I bought a 2017 814ceSB.  It arrived, yesterday.  I am BLOWN AWAY with the tone!  I guess I've gotten so used to the 414....that this 814 sounds like it's plugged in, when I strum the bass strings.  It's just different than anything I've ever heard.  My D-28 is a boom box.  The 814 is just different.  Projection is there, and it's SO full.

It's everything I'd hoped for.  I can't wait to get to know it.

The 814 can be the perfect sweet spot for so many people.  Although I usually prefer the natural look the 814ce SB is growing on me.  Congrats on the new addition.

Very nice.  I just received my Taylor 812ce 12 fret DLX yesterday as well.  I am finding it hard to put down and I share your enthusiasm.  I haven’t seen much love for 12 frets here, but maybe I haven’t looked around enough yet.

I recently picked up a 2015 814ce Brazilian. I have had a Martin 00028EC for about 5 years. I love the 814ce, but is a very different guitar to the Martin. The Martin is a very lightly built guitar, and responds very well to a light touch, even with 11-53 strings. I initially installed the factory spec Elixir Bronze HD light 13-53s. to the 814. I found that was too much of a leap from the Martin! Went down to Elixir 12-53s, and getting on OK now. I still find that you have to work a little harder with the 814 compared to the Martin, although the sound is certainly worth it. Does not have the (Zingy) sound that I had experienced on other Taylors I had tried.
