Hi Kirk,
Taylor's "GC" sized guitars have their shorter 24 7/8" scale, as do some of their older dreds. All their other guitars (excluding the mini and baby, of course), however, have the longer 25 1/2" scale ...this is what you want if you will downtune a guitar. The longer scale helps maintain the rich, punchy bass notes when decreasing string tension.
Next consideration is a GA body whose top is designed for light gauge strings, or the larger GS and Dred (orig DN or new GP) which are braced for mediums. So like the longer scale length, the guitar designed for mediums will likely fare better when tuned down than the guitar braced for lights. Then again, a GA strung with mediums and tuned down can very well be a very beautiful thing, so don't dismiss the GA on this point alone.
Keep in mind these are all generalities, and nothing can replace what you hear. So while these guidelines may help you search, ultimately you need to try first, especially when wood combinations will, again, alter the guitar's voice. Have at it!
