Did the same "treatment" on two of mine yesterday. The Taylor 12-fret mahogany didn't exhibit much tonal change with the fresh Newtones, but my Martin 00-18 absolutely LOVED the new Elixir Nano lights it got. What a difference a string change makes in that guitar.

It is amazing how a new set of strings can change your whole outlook on a guitar.  When I did my string change the fresh tone reminded me of the first day I owned the 814.

What are you using for the neck support?

I've just realised that the padded bag for my GSMini has a great neck support and it's only held in with velcro ;-)

Thanks for that little bit of information.  I never knew that you could take out the neck support from the hard bag.  It will work great for a string change, or other work.

What a beautiful guitar - great job on the fretboard.  Your routine is very similar to mine and the results are a testament to that method. What year is your 814, and what makes it a limited? I have an old Martin neck support and pad like yours, but it has seen better days. I  would love to get a replacement without the Martin logo. I will have to look around.

I have kept my eye open for a Taylor work mat and neck support over the years but nothing so far.

I did find one at Stew Mac, so I  think I'll give myself a Christmas present.

I bought mine from Stew Mac also.  The only complant I have is that when it has been rolled up and put away the foam pad wants to stay rolled up when you want it flat, and so it takes just a few minutes to lay flat.
