Susie lives in Michigan. Florida's not a problem, but taking out a guitar which has gotten cold over time in shipment (see: Michigan in December) can crack the finish if taken out and warmed too fast. The wood would expand quicker than the finish, since the inside of the guitar is unprotected to the environment. So normally, especially to be on the safe side or if you think it's gotten cold in shipment/storage, you want to be cautious and let it sit in your warm home in the unopened box to slowly acclimate. There's no "standard", but I figure after 8 hours it has likely acclimated. To be safe, I would say after that time you could pop open the box top and feel inside, if the case is still noticeably cold to the touch, wait longer. I'd be looking for a happy Susie post soon, after she stops playing.  8)
Good answer.
Yes, a  ;D Susie post will be coming soon. I am very happy!

Congratulations with the new 914 Susie.  I bet the acclimation time was a killer.  Looking forward to the reveal.  Will you give us a spoiler--is it AWESOME?

just curious about something, susie -
does the soundhole label read '914' ???

i've seen 6 & 800 series models labeled 'straight up',
but the current 900s show only 910e, 912e & 912e
12 fret no 'c' models, so i was just wondering

Looks like Taylor is recognizing that this is what some people want. You could always get their guitars straight up, if that's what you wanted, and I know with all the models available, a dealer can only stock a sample, but its nice to see Taylor actually showing folks what this option looks like.

i was looking thru some past pdf file $ lists & for a while
there, the average was around 30 to 40 'straight up' models -
in 2013, Taylor offered nearly 70 no c, no e models,
(with no 520, 320, or 400 rosewood series), but in
2014, that number was reduced to just over 30, down
to around 20 in 15 (810, 812, 814 & 816 were there) &
this year, to about 10 (810, 812, 814 & 816 removed)

i found it interesting to see that when those models were
standard, that there were not many shown in dealer stock -
rather than having 20 or so models in nearly every series,
having the option available to spec them this way is good

there are some models replaced into the standard fold -
if they sell well, i wouldn't be surprised to see them
more often at the larger premier level & chain locations

it'd be nice to be able to spec a 518 or 718 with lutz top :)
