How high should the steings be at the 12th fret? Tjanks

1st string = 3/64”
6th string = 5/64”

With about 0.008" or 0.009" of relief at the seventh fret too, while the string is held down at the first and 13th frets. A standard sheet of copier paper is 0.004", so a double thickness makes a great gauge.

Taylors: 424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska. Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424. Several ukulele and bass guitars too.

The mothership sets the action at 4/64ths and 6/64ths, high e and low E, IIRC. This is a good baseline from which to start.
What "should" the high actually be, however, is a question that is answered by the player's style and music. The best setup is done by a good guitar tech who talks to the customer about what he plays and
how
he plays.
