Taylor Road Show Guitars - Special?

I went to a local guitar store recently and played a Taylor with a very unusual woods/scale configuration.  I thought it was quite special.  I checked into it and discovered it had been made in 2013 especially for the Taylor Road Show tour. 

Does anyone know whether these Road Show guitars are produced in a different, more hands-on way than the usual Taylor guitars?

They are made as Custom build to orders via the worksheets, but configured/ordered by the Taylor sales reps who bring them out on tour, based on either what they want to try, or what they already know works well.
