Of my 5 current guitars, two are taylors: a big baby and an 816ce.  They are both good friends with my fender strat, my harmony, and my les paul.

My first Taylor ever...new in 2009, an 855ce......in Nov of 2013 I discovered UTGF while shopping for a 6 string.....I'm not a collector and I don't have the big bucks, but I went on a search to find my two favorite Taylor 6 strings, one for plugged in (Bose L1) and one for unplugged...in the last fifteen months I have purchased:

2012 GS8e  NOS
2013 416ce   NEW
2010 516ce CV WW   NOS
2013 514e FLTD   NEW
2013 GS Mini Hog e   NEW
2014 524e   NEW
2003 DN W-10e   USED
2012 DN8   USED
2013 520e First Edition   NEW
2013 528e   USED
2012 810e Proto   USED
2013 818e First Edition

I'm down to five now.... still trying to decide on my two favorites....and it is all but impossible.....my new friends here at UTGF have guided me through one of the most awesome musical years of my life..........and I'm 65! I consider this list my "savings account" that earns .00000001% interest!

hey cigarfan, reading your amazing list it occurred to me to ask you, if you could only choose one main guitar and one backup from your entire list, which two would it be and which would be first and second?

That is a really tough question. At the risk of offending many of my guitars, I think the top 2 would be the Hatcher Penelope and the Kwasnycia 000-12, in that order. And I will say, it is really difficult not to squeeze the Santa Cruz D12 on this list.

My apologies to ALL my guitars not picked for this list. It took me a long time to narrow in on my current collection and each guitar has something unique and special about it.

Right now there are 11 (list below the pictures). I have been discussing another build with Mark Hatcher. I make a trip to see him in February and if we can agree on wood from him stash I think I'm going to have him build me a Greta (his OM size) with Cedar or Redwood over Walnut.

His Penelope absolutely blows me away!

Your Hatcher Penelope has to be one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen!  The back/side wood is just gorgeous!  Isn't this Mahogany from "The Tree...?"

Indeed, back and sides are from "The Tree". It really does sound richer than "regular" Mahogany (whatever that means). Or maybe that is just Mark's build. Guess I'll never know cause this is probably the only "Tree" stuff I'll ever own. (Wow, that didn't sound right  :o)
