I Joined the Taylor "Koa Club"
« on: November 10, 2014, 10:08:42 AM »
Since falling in love with the Taylor koa guitars on a recent visit to the music store, I've been trying to decide if I needed to get a Taylor koa. I had a long discussion with my husband and he said "no, you don't NEED it". But, he said he wanted me to get one. He said I deserved it, bless his heart. He insisted on the K series. So, I decided on a K24ce and it will be at my house in 2 days. So, I've officially joined the unofficial Taylor "Koa Club". Thanks to the members who I PM'ed with questions and the members who answered questions via the threads.

Happy Birthday to me! (...actually, today IS my birthday  ::).)

Now, a teaser picture:

Susie
Taylors: 914 ● K24ce ● 414 ● GSMeK+ ● BT-K
Ponos: ABD-6C Master Series (Cedar/Acacia) ● MGBD-6 Deluxe (Mango)

Have been finger-pickin' guitar since 1973!

Happy Koa Birthday Susie!  That is a gorgeous koa guitar.  I play a lot of Hawaiian slack key guitar and also ukulele, so I am partial to koa instruments.  But that one looks stunning.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Happy Birthday Susie, that's one great way to celebrate!  ;D

Welcome to the club, I know you'll enjoy it. Also the sapwood makes it really distinctive, I'm a big fan of uniqueness in my guitars in some way, might as well make it yours!

Will love to see more photos when you get it....

Many Happy Returns. Shame the new addition couldn't have made it for the big day, but I'm sure you'll make up for it when it arrives. Only two more "sleeps" to go.

That guitar is literally a piece of art. You could buy a humidified glass case and just hang it in there as a museum piece!  Enjoy and happy, happy birthday!
