icon revisited
« on: February 10, 2014, 12:39:35 PM »
Thanks for all the discussion and insight about the iconic Taylor. After reading this current issue of WOOD AND STEEL, it's apparent that Bob Taylor thinks the 800's are his iconic series and the 14 GA is his iconic shape. This opinion was in the combined question and answer article with Himself and Andy Powers. That was pretty much the consensus of us players as well. An icon is born.
1993(?) 410 Special Edition (Rosewood/cut-away)
1995 412
1997 810
1998 Mahogany Baby
2000 714
2010 DN3
2013 Mini Mahogany
2014 522 12 fret
About two dozen other brands of guitars, mandolins, ukuleles, banjos and Venezuelan Cuatros, not to mention the flutes, pennywhistles and the piano.

I don't know if this is an oxymoron, but it seems more like an icon has been re-born...

I found the new issue of W&S interesting because it came on the heels of the icon question posed here on UTGF; and Bob, Kurt, and Andy confirmed what many of you ( I said the 810) had already said about the 814....

The 814ce is their top seller, so it's all of us who have made that guitar as Taylor's iconic instrument.
