I went backwards ...

... my first Taylor was an 814ce (I was older, a long, long time player and my sons had "inherited" or more accurately, hi-jacked, my other acoustics so I took all this as permission to get a nice guitar) ... later, I bought a Big Baby Taylor as a travel guitar but that was "inherited" by my youngest son ... so I got a 114ce next as my "take anywhere" guitar ... obviously, the 814ce is a much nicer guitar but I still very much enjoy the 114ce and it is usually the first of my Taylor's to draw the assignment for alt tunings ... there are some weeks when it gets most of my playing time ... (for example, this week as I am experimenting with open Gm tuning) ...
I do agree with the previous posts that recommend saving up and going with a 300 or above to get into the solid wood category as an upgrade from the GS Mini ... but a 114 is no slouch for the price IMO ...
