Cindy - I love your guitar and especially the striping on the fretboard! I have never seen on like it. Super nice!
me, too & me neither (first macassar ebony fretboard i've ever seen)
just looking at a BTO option sheet & it looks like Cindy pulled out all the stops
the upcharge the bridge as is much as the upcharge for the fretboard,
but, imho, the entire package and end result was money well spent
very nice
Sorry I am entering separate posts. I don't see any multi-quote option here.
The striping of the fretboard...when I purchased this used GA3 from a pawn shop, the top had some dried gook on it (similar to hair gel). I assumed it had gotten on the fretboard and discolored it, but when I spoke with a Taylor rep, he told me they don't stain their ebony. I would up loving its uniqueness.

Then one day on the OTHER Taylor forum during a discussion of these striped ebony fretboards, someone posted a fretboard pic (although not of a Taylor) completely covered with thin marks no longer than 1/2" which looked like strands of hair in thickness. It was also a natural-colored fretboard which the owner claimed was striped ebony. It was really different and was the only one I'd ever seen. When I was working on my BTO specs, I asked one of the guys in the BTO department if it was possible to have a fretboard completely covered in striped ebony. They said they have used Macassar ebony on BTOs although I had never seen any pics of Taylors prior to that time.
Like Michael said, the upcharge for the bridge was the same as the fretboard upcharge.

The fretboard inlay doesn't stand out nearly as much as it does on an all black fretboard, but I was going for a striped theme. The top of my GA3 has shaded striping all over so I also asked for an Adi top with stripes.
The steel strings that came on it were black.

And the harmonics were overpowering. When I called to ask what type of strings were used, I was told Elixirs. When I changed the strings and put on Elixir 80/20 lights, the harmonics were gone, and the tone now sounds closer to cedar. I have a Colosi WAHI saddle I may put in to see if it brightens up the tone a little.
Is it Scriptor who also has a Macassar ebony fretboard on his BTO? I believe his is plain, and even the plain ones are gorgeous!
