it's finally here! after weeks of waiting and waiting, i am very happy to finally have my guitar home. seeing the box and opening the case, it was a nerve racking experience. i thought to myself, "please, please, i hope the guitar's fine from a long journey. please, no damages whatsoever." and so, i opened it and wow, just wow! the gloss just shines beautifully. it's brand spanking new. now for a short review since i used it for only a few minutes since i have to go to work today. ok, first off, the looks. love everything about it's distinct features. from the binding, the fretboard inlay and the wood combo. just. amazing. as i plucked each string one by one, i noticed the guitar is not on tune. so i adjusted it a bit and then wow....just wow! (how many times do i have to say wow again?) the sound is just as i expected. so i kept strumming, harder and harder pushing it. as hard as i push, the louder and bigger it sounds. it was clear and bright. i played some blues into it, trying the higher frets. inching closer to the bridge. the neck is fast just as the fretboard is smooth. it's like playing my elec guitar. the action to me is just right. even when the E bass string is detuned (drop d), there's no fret buzz whatsoever. in closing, this is my first all-solid acoustic and my first taylor guitar. thanks guys for so much needed information (with the GAS along with it). kudos to jim, of course, @guitarrodeo for making it possible! this one's a keeper and will be much played with passion, heart and soul. pics to follow!
Now you know our reason for the love affair with Taylor, and for me the Taylor 814
Congrats on the new Taylor! The abalone rosette looks really nice...lots of dark blue/green shell!
