Will Taylor ever solve that loud b string problem. I have a 2011 815ce and its no better than the old es system I had in a 2005 814ce.

I have a 2002 314 which has the distinction of being the first non-cutaway guitar to have the ES installed. It first had the first generation retrofit, then the second, than the upgrade to the 9V system.

While I've heard of this problem with the B string, it's never been an issue on my guitar...

Have you tried using a trs/balanced cable rather than a regular guitar cable?  When I switched to the TRS I got the more even tone I was looking for and the B Zing seems to have gone away...you can see a picture of this type of cable at the top right hand corner of this Taylor tech sheet...i was using a DI to try to eq out the zing but this cable was really all I needed.

I've used 2 methods to level the b and/or e. Buffalo horn bridge pins on the G,b,e usually(not always) mellow out the sizzle if that's the sound you're looking for. I've also pulled the saddle, and sanded a little bit on the bottom directly under the b string, the length of the compensated area. This results in less transfer of energy to the top. Don't over-do this or the b will quieten too much.

My 2010 Taylor 414ce with a standard 1/4 cable and played with a pick, the B and lesser extent E are sometimes louder than the others.  The difference is very noticeable if picked near the center of the sound hole but decreases as I move the pick zone closer to the bridge.  If I slant the pick zone more so the two solids are struck nearer to the bridge it seems to level out the volume. The tone changes slightly but that can be adjusted with the EQ on the guitar. I find I am picking the B and E at (or even slightly below) the bottom edge of the soundhole.  Slightly lower than I would do unplugged for best tone.
