Phosphor Bronze Strings
« on: April 10, 2012, 04:11:32 PM »
Over on another forum someone was asking about the original strings on a Seagull S6. When I looked at Seagull's site, they actually did a joint thing with a leading manufacturer to create their own strings. I'm wondering if they are made by Daddario because the light gauge is the same as Daddarios. Elixir uses a .054 string for the low E (light gauge) compared to .053 for Daddarios and Godins. If interested they can be purchased here, and the price doesn't seem to be too bad...certainly less than Daddarios and Elixirs.

Has anyone ever tried these on a Taylor?

d'addario, elixir & john pearse use a .053 E

DR, ernie ball, GHS & martin use a .054 E

this one came with d'addario EJ16's (art & lutherie cedar blue)

i would guess that they would also be used on their new guitars -
(seagull, simon & patrick, art & lutherie & norman)

the seagull acoustic strings are not coated -
the packaging seems similar to d'addario
(enivironmentally friendly - 75% less)

Godin new guitar concepts high definition strings -
'Each set has been selected for the best and most consistent sound'

hand-picked strings ???
i guess they would be, once  they've been put on a guitar ;)

i would expect them to sound like d'adddario EJs (PB)

Ahh...you are correct, Michael. They aren't coated. I was under the impression they were. :-[ Thanks for the correction! :)
