BONE SADDLE v MICARTA WAVE
« on: December 26, 2021, 07:35:16 AM »
Just changed my k22' saddle to Bone. Great change. I like it better. Any thoughts with your experience?

Bone is my material of choice for my five guitars. It definitely provides more presence to a guitar's tone when done right. Cheers!

Some guitars sound great with Micarta, Tusq, plastic.... saddles.  Actually most do. I purchase guitars for how they sound when I evaluate them and have never thought, "I wonder how this would sound with  X saddle.  I know many who have changed from their factory material to a new bone saddle and loved it while others immediately go back to what they originally had.  It's really a coin-toss as to whether there will be any change or what the change will be. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours.

None is really inconsistent and often makes guitars sound brighter. It also doesn’t work as well with pickups because of differences in its density, whereas Micarta is super consistent. Here’s Andy Powers on this topic: https://youtu.be/vBLxV7XO_Ok
