It is in our nature to resist change. I've seen many changes over the years in all aspects of life, which were first rejected, panned or even ridiculed, only later to be praised as game-changing innovations. I believe that Taylor is no exception to this circumstance. While I have some nostalgia relating to earlier versions Taylor products (like my 1997 Cujo), I'm excited about Taylor's future along my acquired tastes for the evolving iterations of their product line. As I've said before, I love my X braced Taylors as much as I love my V braced Taylors, while embracing the contrast, and enjoying the diversity of playing choices.

Really well-stated.  One of the smartest posts I've seen in a long time.

I whole heartedly  agree with SF and I appreciate Taylor

I guess the answer is still yes, but I don't play by brand, just by guitar. I've always just kind of grabbed a guitar and played it for a while without timing or even necessarily going for a particular one. But because of Covid a lot of things changed, including having more time for guitar. Then I started concentrating more on one or another guitar for a while until I didn't. I don't have any onus to play in any kind of giving equal time thing, I just go by feel a lot. Most recently I have been playing my newest, the Epi solid wood J-200 a lot. I feel I'm still exploring it. Given some excessive heat and humidity a month or so ago, I played the laminate Epi EJ-200 s lot. Before that, I think I was kind of swapping off between my 412e-R short scale and my 355 12 string in C# (with DADGAD intervals C# - c#, down a semitone. My 458 is in D# - d# standard down a semitione). Will probably be still be playing the Epi J-200 for a while while breaking it in.

What do you think of that solid Epi J-200? I see them every so often and they always spark my interest... .

Give you the short version Tom,

Got to play it in the store, and liked it a lot. The strings it ships with (.012-.053) do not do it any favors. I put Elixir PB HD Lights on it. It's no 'Gibson J-200', but it is a very nice guitar. And the price is right. It is also nicely set-up brand new, and won't make any changes, at least for a little while, maybe after the winter. Since it's a solid wood model, it's sound may very well improve with age. Since my Gibson J-200 is rosewood B&S, it gives an interesting contrast. The other Epi EJ-200 has laminate B&S, but I favor it in times of high humidity.

Biggest drawback to the new Epiphone Inspired-By-Gibson J-200 is the narrow nut/neck width, which is a hair or two over 1+11/16" width. I can handle it, but would not go any lower. Obviously my Taylor 6 strings are 1+3/4" (1+12/16") width. As with everything, see if you can try one out before purchasing. This whole Epiphone Inspired-By-Gibson line seems to be a winner.

The Epi J-200 I got is the sunburst model and looks real sharp.

And I do like Jumbo guitars.

And Taylors. :-)

And I fingerpick everything using my nails. This one is friendly for my fingers.

I tried but couldn't adapt to the Taylor sound.  It's just too bright and not in a good way for my taste.  I tried.

To each their own although it's a little strange to post that to a Taylor forum. Strings and picks make a HUGE difference. Unless you tried quite a few of each in different combinations you haven't heard what a Taylor can really sound like.

Taylor isn’t the first builder that “no longer does it for me”.

The few GP’s that I’ve been able to play are nice

Not directly on topic and certainly not the end of the world, but I have to ask:  why are apostrophes and quotation marks -- pretty common punctuation -- suddenly showing up as the control character gobbledygook?  That was not previously the case.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.

I have to ask the same thing ,having noticed it quite often recently. It seems to happen after the fact.. after the reply is posted. Agree, not the end of the world but kind of annoying .

I had not noticed revisions happening after the fact, but I don't post that often these days.  I have noticed it in other's posts.
My guess is that a recent software update to the forum OS is doing this.  (I put a "don't" into that sentence to test the hypothesis).  So far, so good after looking at my post just now.

What are you using to access the forum? A PC, Mac, tablet, or phone? And what browser. We are trying to narrow down the source of the issue.

Everything after the apostrophe in do not disappeared.  Maybe it is something to do with Safari and Apple products?

It is not just Safari.

I use an older iPad Air running IOS 14.5.1 and have tried both Safari and Firefox with the same results. I have also cleared the cookies, logged out and back in to this forum and forced a reboot on my iPad. None of these have had any effect on the apostrophe problem.

On the plus side, it is making me be less lazy by not allowing contractions of words. I have to spell everything out now.  ;)
