Took Soooo Long to Bake It?

Hiya All! Rodney from Vancouver, CANADA here! Got my first Taylor when the Big Baby was first introduced. Kept her for over 3 years until I gave it away to one of my friend niece as a present. Yeah used but looks mint all that time. Anyways looked at another real standard Taylor but couldn't wrap my ears for the brightness overall and just stayed back and gotten into other real big name brand players in the business since it all started. I am primarily a dreadnought player.
I focused a lot on dreads and triple-O's. Fast forward in the early millennium I spotted a 2012 GS 416ce and the rest is history.
I am just glad and happy I came around once again to Taylor and am sure glad I did. The feel the sound and looks is all there. Took a while but my 416ce is a keeper. Looking forward to another one and maybe a dread this time.

Welcome Rodney, happy to have you here with us. Just curious, have you had an opportunity to try out any of the Taylor Grand Pacifics (since you are interested in a dread)?

Yes TaylorGirl I am so intrigue with the new offerings of the Grand Pacific and the 618e Grand Orchestra model specially with the new bracing V-Class.
Just when you think you have it down pat there comes another one hehe!

I am still in honeymoon mode with the simplistic styling of my 416ce and it has opened really well over the years. A few nicks here and there which is okay but overall the gloss just shines quite nicely and has tinted down to almost like liquid honey shade.
I will experiment with other string gauge/type and brand. The 12's right now sounds really great. I have skipped back to the original gauge of 13's.

Welcome to the forum. That 416 looks awesome! Are the back and sides ovangkol ? If so, please post a pic of the back. I'm a big ovangkol fan for both its sound and appearance.

Thank you SF. I am totally new to this and it's the first time I have had seen/experience the tonal sound coming fromthe Ovangkol, beside Hog/RW/Mada/Sapele.

I will try a AA pins next string change, it's got the stock ebony for now. Just wanted to hear the difference between the two and see hwat I prefer. But am happy right now with the Ebony.
